With MWC cancellation, OPPO Find X2 launch postponed until March
The cancellation of Mobile World Congress 2020 by the GSMA has forced OPPO to postpone the global launch of its Find X2 smartphone until sometime in March. Originally, the OPPO Find X2 was scheduled to be one of the first products unveiled during MWC on February 22.
OPPO respects and understands GSMA’s decision, and after serious consideration, we have also decided to reschedule the OPPO Find X2 Global Launch Event, originally scheduled on February 22nd. As of now, the event will be rescheduled for March and more information will be shared soon.
As of now, the date and location of the OPPO Find X2 have not been set.
While Mobile World Congress is typically seen by the public as when most major smartphone announcements are made during the first half of the year, the industry event is much more significant for manufacturers since it is when most retail and network partnerships are made for the distribution of the devices. Those meetings help determine when and where specific phones will be available across the globe.
OPPO is one of the largest brands in China and the rest of Asia, but it’s still fairly unknown in Europe and North America. That has slowly been changing over the past few years and the global launch of the OPPO Find X2 was expected to be the company’s biggest international push to date.
Hopefully, the delayed launch of the phone won’t have too big of an impact on the OPPO’s global expansion plans to compete with Samsung, Apple and the other big players in the smartphone space.
