See Amplitude in action for the first time.
Harmonix‘s upcoming Amplitude reboot will feature a team multiplayer mode, the studio announced today.
Team play will allow players to face off in either 2v2 or 3v1 matches, according to the PlayStation Blog.
The multiplayer mode came to be when Amplitude’s creative lead, Ryan Lesser, asked the development team how matches between experienced and inexperienced players will be balanced. Creating team play allowed the studio to achieve this balance without changing the gameplay itself.
Harmonix hopes team play will make Amplitude an enjoyable experience in both party and competitive settings. “Time will tell, but we have a couple of months to really suss it out, playtest the crap out of it, and get some great feedback from fans,” Lesser said.
The new multiplayer mode will be shown off this weekend at PAX East. Stay tuned to IGN for all the latest on Harmonix’s music game.
