Google bringing more third party apps to Google Now by introducing an open API
Nearly 40 third party Android apps like Shazam, Airbnb and others recently received Google Now support. This meant that users would finally be able to see content from other apps on Google Now.
Google is now planning a massive expansion of this feature by announcing an open API for Google Now. The Director of Product Management for Google Now, Aparna Chennapragada gave out the good news.
This will mean that practically any third party application available out there will be able to notify its users via Google Now. The visibility of these new app cards on Now will be dependent on the usage pattern, so you won’t see all app notifications showing up there.
This will ensure that you are notified only for the apps that you frequently use, thus providing you the best data. While this feature might be only accessible by the aforementioned 40 apps, developers should soon be able to get their hands on the API to integrate their apps with Google Now.
