The victim was talking to his father in Greece over the video chat program just days after the birth of his premature son, when he left the computer to help his new baby in the bath

Skype remained connected and the father witnessed a nurse go through his son’s belongings at the Epworth Hospital maternity ward and take something out.

New mum, Chrysa, said her father-in-law alerted them upon returning to the room to check his son’s wallet as the nurse took out a $ 20 note. He then identified the culprit when she re-entered the ward. Read more…

Skype for Android updated with portrait calls on tablets, more languages

If you’re one of the many still using Skype for video calls in this day and age, we have some good news for tablet users. Sadly most gave up on Skype for tablets for this very reason but today they’ve fixed that.

It surely isn’t anything special...

The new app brings the same always-on functionality as the desktop version — a feature that’s even more powerful on a device designed for communication from the get-go.

Skype calls are treated just like regular calls in the new app, using the same incoming call screen. However, you’ll still be able to tell it’s a Skype call thanks to a visual cue (a tiny Skype icon) and an audio one (the distinctive Skype ring).

The app is always working in the background even if you’re using another app or the phone’s locked. Of course, you can always choose to make yourself invisible on…

U.S. Army Captain Bruce Kevin Clark, 43, died during a Skype video call with his wife on Monday. Clark was an army nurse stationed in Tarin Kowt, Afghanistan, supporting Operation Enduring Freedom at the time.

The circumstances surrounding his death are still unknown, according to CNN.

The army will be investigating the cause of death, according to William Beaumont Army Medical Center officials in El Paso, Texas. Clark was based in Beaumont with the A Company and Troop Command.

“We are entrusting the military with investigating and with finding out what happened to Capt. Clark,” Bradley Taber-Thomas, Clark’s brother-in-law told The Associated Press on Friday.
