A nurse at a Melbourne hospital has been caught red-handed on Skype stealing from a new dad.

The victim was talking to his father in Greece over the video chat program just days after the birth of his premature son, when he left the computer to help his new baby in the bath

Skype remained connected and the father witnessed a nurse go through his son’s belongings at the Epworth Hospital maternity ward and take something out.

New mum, Chrysa, said her father-in-law alerted them upon returning to the room to check his son’s wallet as the nurse took out a $ 20 note. He then identified the culprit when she re-entered the ward. Read more…

While most hackers used to hold iconoclastic ideals, with aspirations to “shock the system” for a perceived common good, today’s hacker/cracker community is more concerned with making a quick buck.

At least that’s how Mike Calce, the former hacker known as ‘mafiaboy,’ sees things. Calce says he still has contact with some of the people he used to know in the hacker community, and while many of them are still active, their priorities have changed.

“The hacker motivation has changed immensely,” Calce told Mashable in an interview. “It’s much more about monetary gain, whereas in my era, it was about pushing the status quo.”

Warner Bros. — the studio behind The Dark Knight Rises — has announced that it will make a “substantial” donation to charities supporting victims of the theater shooting in Aurora, Colo.

The studio has been in contact with Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper’s office, saying it will contribute funds to givingfirst.org, a branch of Colorado’s Community First Foundation, which will distribute money across various charities for the July 20 shooting victims, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

The shooting, which occurred at a midnight premiere of the Batman film, killed 12 and left at least 58 wounded. Police have suspected gunman James Holmes in custody.
